PET
ROCK FESTIVAL
Sunday, September 12, 2010
Quinsigamond Community College, 670 W Boylston St, Worcester, MA 01606
Another year, another Pet Rock Festival - now celebrating over ten
years in New England, Pet Rock Fest is an annual festival that promotes
kindness to animals. This expo features hundreds of tables, including
breed rescues, shelters, animal welfare organizations and more. It's
a see and be seen event for you and your dog to attend, but one that
benefits ALL types of animals. This family-friendly day includes an
adoptable dog parade, contests, rabies clinic and low-cost microchipping,
live music, a doggie water park, a cat photo contest, speakers, vendors,
shows and food. It's a wonderful day for you and your leashed pet.
This year there’ll be more acts, more vendors, more attractions,
more food – it’ll be bigger and better than ever.
For further information about Pet Rock http://www.petrockfest.com or to volunteer staffing the NEOESR booth, setting up the booth before
or taking everything down after the festival, please contact Martine
at roadshow@neoesr.org.

National Specialty Rescue Parade
September
24, 2010
Rochester, NY
NEOESR and member Karen Burdash have been asked to organize the National
Specialty Rescue Parade in conjunction with the Old English Sheepdog
Club of America 2010 National Specialty Show to be held in the Dome
Arena, Rochester, NY September 19th - 24th, 2010. The Parade
will be held on Friday September 24th. The theme of the Parade will
be: A Salute to our Rescue Dogs!
The Rescue Parade will take place on Friday, at about noon, just after
the bitches judging and before the intersex judging. The Parade is
to be held in the host hotel
Quality Inn, Rochester Airport. www.choicehotels.com/hotel/ny211
A Note from Grannie Annie regarding you and your dog's deportment.
Very VERY important: All dogs that are coming to the show!!!!!!!!!!!
Please let's make a good impression. That translates to the following:
Do not use those extender leashes at all on the show grounds. It is
impossible to control your dog properly with those things. All Rescue
dogs need to be on no longer than a 6' leash while near the show grounds
and or including where you are staying.
Needless to say, we need to have everyone pick up after your dog.
There is an old dog show rule that still applies today. Do not allow
your dog to sniff any other dog while on the show grounds or where
you are staying. The reason? The show dogs are trained not to sniff
and we want them to know that all dogs are created equal. ;-)
Why no sniffing? Because dogs that sniff are picking up or giving out
information. By short circuiting this conversation, you avoid any possibility
of a fight. Show dogs do not fight. Period.
Another thing show dogs don't do is...bark. Please make sure that your
dog (s) doesn't bark...unnecessarily. LOL
In summary, you are to be in charge (read ..be the leader) of your
dog at all times. This means when you are chatting with someone or
just walking the dog. (I noticed quite a few of the Rescue dogs at
the recent NEOESR picnic were not being watched carefully by their
owners. It was during times like that the growls were heard.
The bottom line? If the show people are bothered by any unruly dog,
we will never be asked back again.
We want you all to come to the great 2010 Specialty and have a great
time and I want the Rescue dogs to leave a lasting great impression.
One addition this year for the first time is the Memory Walk. Mary
McIntosh can explain what that's about
Come early and watch your friends do the performance events.
